The Genesis Code is an inspirational, relationship film designed for anyone who has ever questioned their Faith or a belief in the Biblical story of Creation due to the seemingly irreconcilable differences between that Story as told in Genesis and the apparently conflicting proofs now established by modern science. If the first book of the Bible and the story it tells — that, “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth” in six days — is not true, how can anyone take seriously any of the rest of the Bible?

Our protagonist BLAKE TRUMAN is a young man in his early twenties who has exploded on the sports scene as the new superhero of the Madison College hockey team. KERRY WELLS is a reporter on the school paper that has been assigned to write a story on the new sports star. Kerry is the daughter of a respected local reverend, DR. JERRY WELLS, and a committed Christian. But she is also a young woman with an effervescent personality who enjoys life to its fullest.

When Kerry meets Blake she finds a flippant young man who has perhaps read too many of his own press clippings and seems to carry a heavy chip on his shoulder. As their relationship begins to develop Kerry realizes that below Blake’s tough exterior there is a compassionate, caring man who uses his brooding, cynical persona as a way of not confronting the reality of a personal emotional crisis he faces and for which there seems to be no solution. Blake was never a particularly religious person, but — among other things — the folly of “six days of Creation” has caused him to logically reject any notion that the Bible might hold any real answers.

Wanting to find a way of breaking through Blake’s protective emotional wall Kerry presents an idea to her brother MARC. Marc Wells is a physics student of genius proportion whose addiction to science has led him down a secular path very different from his father and sister. With some skepticism Marc agrees to explore the concept Kerry has suggested.

At about two o’clock the next morning Kerry and her roommate are suddenly awakened by the sound of a loud knocking on the door of their room. Kerry opens the door to find her brother standing there, wide-eyed and flushed with excitement. “You will never guess what I just discovered!”

That afternoon Marc brings all the key players in the drama together to reveal his discovery. In the spirit of Charlie in the hit TV series Numbers Marc clearly reveals the solution to a perplexing quandary. In the conflicting Biblical and scientific versions of reality which condition is true? Were the earth and universe created in six 24-hour days as depicted in Genesis, or did they evolve over a period of some sixteen billion years as explained by modern science? The answer amazes everyone present. Science, the perennial nemesis of religious Faith has provided the answer. Unequivocally, and without resorting to twisting the wording of Genesis to suggest “day means ages or eons”, the answer is that both are absolutely true. The Six Days of Genesis and the sixteen billion years of science are one in the same. Science has caught up with and validated the Biblical story of Genesis!

Reverend Wells smiles and notes that he find it marvelous that God chose to open the story of His Creation in a way that mankind had to advance to its current level in order to understand it. JT BOCHNER, one of Marc’s physicist pals who has worked with him in coming up with their conclusion, points out that more than a 1000 years ago the ancient Commentators, without any knowledge of relativity or time dilation or red-shift had actually foreseen what science has now proven. Armed with this answer Blake is now put in a position of re-evaluating the reality of the Bible and God’s Word and the potential of his own Faith. He must decide whether to stay encased in the protective cocoon which enables him to shut out the rest of the world, or to seek the help and support of those who would be his friends in overcoming his own personal crisis. This is an entertainment movie with characters anyone can relate to and a story told in a fast paced contemporary fashion without the over-sweet, over-simplistic performances of the typical “faith-based” film. The Genesis Code targets a wide audience and will appeal to anyone who respects the validity of modern science, but who also wants to accept the unique and awe-inspiring authority of the Bible.
