Dan-SevernMovie to be filmed at Rockford High School

A windfall of opportunity is coming to town called "Win by Fall." It is a feature film about wrestling set to shoot at Rockford High School on July 6-9. The film stars three time UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) heavyweight champion Dan "The Beast" Severn.

Writer of the screenplay, Joel Reisig, is also producing the PG-13 movie which is due to hit video stores and cable TV in 2011. His colleague, Chris Nickin, is directing the film.

Reisig is a Michigan native with a business and english degrees from Hope College. He is now following his career dream and doing exactly what he wants to do.

"I own a small film company called "Be Your Own Hollywood," said Reisig, who also teaches independent film making by doing seminars throughout the midwest.

"There hasn't been a movie on the sport of high school wrestling since 1985," he said. "After 25 years I figured it was time to do another one."

Reisig was drawn to the unique sport of wrestling due to the one-on-one challenge. Two guys in the spotlight on a gym floor mat; one of them who will end up on his back in an embarrassing and painful defeat. Thus his title: Win by Fall.

Movie to be filmed at Rockford High School"I approached Rockford for the movie because I had some friends who went to Rockford High School and told me about the great facility and staff there," Reisig said. One of these RHS friends, Scott Erickson, is a fellow producer while the other, Jordan Born, is an actor.

According to Reisig, RHS wrestling coach Brian Richardson, provided him with a lot of helpful information about the sport which prompted him to tweak his screenplay. "It's very important to me that this movie is something Coach Richardson can be proud of," Reisig said.

Richardson was surprised that a movie director would approach him to do a movie here in Rockford but after checking it out with the principal and athletic director, he was encouraged to pursue it.

"I'm very encouraged by his (Reisig's) perspective for the movie," said Richardson. "He wants to present wrestling in a favorable light and promote our sport. It's also a wonderful opportunity to showcase Rockford."

Win by Fall needs roughly 50 extras, ages 16-23, to play high school students on July 6, 8, and 9. They also need around 200 extras of all ages, sizes and shapes, to play high school wrestling fans. These are non-paid positions but provide a fun opportunity to be part of the production.
